2.   By whom is IAPMO R&T Registration Services accredited?

IAPMO R&T RS is accredited by ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board (ANAB - formerly RAB) for the ISO 9001 Certification program. IAPMO R&T RS is also accredited by Komite Akreditasi Nasional (KAN) for ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certification program to serve Indonesian region.

3.   Is the ANAB (formerly RAB) seal accepted internationally?

Yes.

4.   What is a typical route to registration?

Rely on IAPMO R&T RS’s experience and knowledge for a smooth, efficient registration process. As part of our thorough process, we work closely with you to customize an ideal registration plan. Typical steps include:

  • Proposal/quotation prepared
  • Proposal accepted, audit is scheduled
  • Pre-assessment initiated (optional)
  • Registration audit completed (Stage 1 and Stage 2)
  • Non-conformances cleared (if applicable)
  • Registration reviewed, certificate issued
  • Surveillance audits held
  • Re-registration audit performed

5.   Do you have available a complete description of the registration process, including the application and appeals process and policies regarding suspension, withdrawal and cancellation of the certificate?

Yes, IAPMO R&T RS has policies in place that govern all of the above. These policies are available to be viewed via these links: Registration Protocol, Impartiality Policy, Appeal Procedure, Complaint Process, Use of KAN Mark, Use of ANAB Mark
Please send e-mail to isoinfo@iapmort.org if you have further questions.

6.   How are clients notified of quality system omissions or deviations from the standard? How much time will be allowed to make the necessary modifications?

Clients are notified of quality system deviations through issuance of nonconformance reports (NCRs) at the time of their audit.  Your lead auditor will notify you of the time allowance during the closing meeting.

7.   Do you recommend or require a pre-assessment?

A pre-assessment is optional; IAPMO R&T RS does not require it. However, the benefits of having a pre-assessment are numerous, including focusing your attention on your current quality system weaknesses, allowing you to gain experience and familiarity with an audit and IAPMO R&T RS auditors, and increasing your overall chances of passing the registration audit.

8.   How much emphasis is given to the pre-assessment?

IAPMO R&T RS considers the pre-assessment to be a very important step toward a successful registration audit. Although pre-assessments are entirely optional, most IAPMO R&T clients who have undergone pre-assessments pass their registration audits the first time.

9.   Do you recommend that auditors from the pre-assessment be on the final audit team? Will we have the same Lead Auditor for both?

IAPMO R&T RS works with individual clients to promote consistency among audit personnel. We recommend that a minimum of one person from the pre-assessment team be on the registration audit team; however, no guarantees can be made as to auditor availability.

10.  Will a reassessment be required if a modification to the registration scope is requested?

If the proposed modification is closely related to the existing scope/quality system, it is usually verified and approved at the next surveillance audit to help minimize costs. If it is a substantive departure from the registered scope, a special assessment may be required for approval.

11.  Does the client pay for the reassessment?

Yes. The client pays for the reassessment, but only for the man-day or days (plus associated expenses) necessary to evaluate conformance to the standard.

12.  How long does the IAPMO R&T RS registration period last? (How long is the certificate valid?)

The registration certificate is valid for three years. At the end of the three-year period, a reassessment will be scheduled to renew the certificate. Between the time of the initial registration audit and the certificate renewal at three years, clients are audited periodically based on their choice of surveillance schedules: continuous (audits every six months) or annual (audits once per year).

13.  How often do you require surveillance audits?

Clients are routinely quoted for surveillance visits every six months, unless they ask for the annual surveillance schedule. In either case, recently issued guidelines from the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) require that the total audit time for reassessment purposes be equal to two-thirds of the time devoted to the initial registration audit. Reassessment time may vary from the mandated 2/3 figure based on "significant factors that uniquely apply to the organization," including, but not limited to, these contained in Annex A and B of the IAF MD 5:2015. The mandatory document is available on the IAF website at http://www.iaf.nu under “Publications.”

Most IAPMO R &T RS clients choose the continuous (every-six-months) surveillance option due to its inherent advantages. Under this method, your quality system remains under ongoing maintenance. With shorter intervals between audit visits, your system has less of a chance to break down. In this way, there is far less of a chance that auditors will find any major nonconformances, which can be time-consuming and expensive to correct.

14.  Before the audit takes place, will IAPMO R&T RS provide us with an audit plan and audit schedule?

Yes! IAPMO R&T RS will match the audit requirements to your organizational structure and provide a well-defined audit plan and a detailed audit schedule for your review well in advance of the actual audit.

15.  What are the criteria for selecting IAPMO R&T Registration Services auditors?

IAPMO R&T RS follows the guidelines contained in ISO 19011:2011 to define its competency criteria for quality system auditors. ISO 19011:2002 details requirements for education, training, experience, personal attributes, management capabilities and continuing education.

16.  During the audit, some information collected may be sensitive and proprietary; how can we be sure it will remain confidential?

IAPMO R&T RS has confidentiality agreements with all of our auditors and staff. Any information collected during the audit remains confidential and secured.

17.  When we apply, can we contact the assigned Lead Auditor before the registration audit begins?

Yes.  The dialogue between you and your Lead Auditor is very important as this interaction helps coordinate the entire registration program. Your assigned Lead Auditor will be a valuable resource to guide you through the pre-registration and registration process.

18.  Is a list of registered companies available?

Yes, IAPMO R&T RS maintains a list of all its registered companies.  For details, please click here.

19.  How are registration audit costs determined?

It depends on the size of the company seeking registration and the complexity of processes employed by the company. Our Registration Services Department will provide a competitive quotation upon receiving the application.  All registrars are obligated to follow international guidelines on man-day requirements for the standard in question.

20.  How are travel costs billed?

Travel, lodging and per diem are billed at cost. Since IAPMO R&T RS has auditors all across the country, our aim is always to select the closest auditor to the client's facility, thereby keeping travel costs to a minimum.

21.  Does IAPMO R&T RS charge for travel time for the auditors to come to our site? If so, does this include handling fees?

IAPMO R&T RS may charge for travel time if it involves travel of half a day or longer (more than 4 hours).  Travel time is charged at a fixed rate and without additional handling fees.  IAPMO R&T RS, upon availability, will select local auditors to avoid/reduce travel-related expenses.

24.  The new 2015 revision of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standard has been published.  Can we still apply to register to the previous version of the standard?

Yes, however, transition to the 2015 revision of the standard shall be completed by September 15, 2018.  If you choose to apply to register to the previous version of the standard, your certificate will have the expiration date of the transition deadline (less than the typical 3-year expiration date).

25.  Will employing any specific management systems consultant make the certification any simpler, easier, faster or less expensive?
